About the data...

Manomet created this map using ISS and Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) participatory shorebird surveys retrieved from eBird (an online database of bird distribution and abundance from the Cornell Lab of Ornithology) with financial support from ECCC. Markers that hold a dot () are defined as eBird Hotspots.

Manomet and ECCC are currently developing additional tools which will collect site characteristic data and boundary polygons making contributors’ data even more valuable to shorebird scientists and conservation partners.

The International Shorebird Survey (ISS), the Atlantic Canada Shorebird Survey (ACSS), and the Ontario Shorebird Surveys (OSS) are conducted by dedicated partners and volunteers during spring and fall migrations to provides hemispheric data on shorebirds.
